Behind the Music

Michael Lewandowski’s battle with cancer was a
fight that extended to hundreds and hundreds of people.
Hopeful sorrow seemed to define every conversation I had with my wife and
her colleagues where Michael attended school before he passed.
Even years after his passing I still see T-shirts to this day being worn
by people I’ve never met celebrating his hockey number.
Michael’s last year saw a lot of prayer by these supporters of his even
as the hope dwindled to just an elongation of the little time he had left.
But Michael refused to wait for the inevitable like a prisoner on
death-row. He attended his last prom
dressed in a top hat and tails with a girl on his arm who cared deeply about him
and surrounded by friends. While we
all hoped for a miracle, I wanted to write something for him that I hoped would
paint his journey out of this world more as a new adventure and less something
dark and scary. I also hoped to
convey that he is not what he sees in the mirror but something less limited and
eternal. He passed before the
recording was completed.

This
prayer is dedicated to Michael Lewandowski, who ended his brave battle with
cancer on August 11, 2005, only two days shy of his fourteenth birthday, and
also to all of the families who have and are suffering similar circumstances.
John 11:4
.
May
the river be good to you in the crossing to become... May
the river be good to you in the crossing to become... May
the river be good to you in the crossing to become who you are. May
the river be good May
the river be good In
the crossing. May
the river be good May
the river be good In
the crossing to who you are.
